I don't have kids but am in role-reversal with my own Mum, for whom I'm now a full-time carer. It's difficult sometimes because I don't get many opportunities to get out and see people or make new friends but a friend of Mum's is active on Gransnet and she told me about this site.

I've had a look around and decided to join because I've seen threads with posts from people in similar situations and also sections about TV programmes, crafts and other interests so I'm hoping MN can become my 'chatting' and 'social interaction' area.

Hello and welcome Thanks

Have you found the “Elderly Parents” section yet? You might be able to get some advice/let off a bit of steam in there Smile

Hello! There’s an ongoing thread in the Elderly Parents section for general support and letting off steam. I’m not on it, but looks like a friendly bunch! Thread here

You may want to avoid AIBU (Am I Being Unreasonable?) until you’ve been around a while. It’s rather...forthright!

Thank you both so much for the welcome, the link to the 'Elderly Parents' section and the friendly caution about AIBU. Heading off to read the EP now...

Hi everyone i have kids and grandchildren i use too be a fostercarer for 21years i came out of that role is August this year it was hard too make the decision to leave, the reason being i looked after a child with autism for 15years and he started being violent towards me it was one of the difficult decision to end the placement so now i would like to setup a blogg for parents who have had children with challenging behaviour, thats my story.
