Hello everyone,

I am a new mum to a ten day old DD and struggling with combination of baby blues and cluster feeding. If anyone has any advice or words of wisdom I would be really grateful.

Looking forward to hearing from you and being part of the mumsnet community.

Xx

Hello and welcome to MN Thanks

So sorry to hear that you’re feeling blue, having a newborn is tough. There’s a leaflet from the apni that explains baby blues. Does that sound like what you are experiencing?

Cluster feeding is totally normal, but can be a bit frustrating sometimes. If you’re struggling please call your MW or one of the BFing Helplines, have you got their numbers? There’s some information on Kellymom on Cluster Feeding and What to Expect in the Early Weeks should be helpful too Smile

Really though, if you’re feeling blue and feel like you’re struggling, you really do need to give your MW a call this morning. Let us know how you get on Thanks

Thank you so much for your message. I will take a look at those things. I've spoken to my midwife and she has made a referral for me to chat it through. The feeding is crazy, last night it was from 6pm to 2am. I think she drained me Shock

It’s perfectly normal for a newborn to constantly want to feed, especially in the evening. Did she sleep once it got to 2 am?

If you are struggling with the constant feeding, have you got a partner who could have her for a short while? Have you got a sling?

Some things that might help are trying to feed her lying down. Using white noise and using a tshirt that dpDH has worn as the sheet in her Moses basket.
