moving to a new area

i am currently trying to decide weather to move to manchester to live. my son is starting uni there and i am tempted to start a new life with him and my daughter i have no idea of the area, where is best to live etc i have been offered a job in didsbury however it is too expensive to rent in this area. I would love some ideas of decent but affordable places

I don't know Manchester, so can't help you there (you might do better posting in MN Local, or at least putting 'Manchester' in your title).
However, it seems an odd thing to do, to up sticks and follow your ds to University. Have you discussed it with him ?
