Worried about polyhydramnios
LouC79 · 29/11/2016 19:49
Just been for my midwife appointment today (at 32 weeks) and I'm suddenly measuring 5 weeks too big. I've always measured a week ahead so this is quite a big jump. My midwife also felt my bump and says it feels like I'm carrying too much fluid on my right side....this also happened at my 28 week appointment (a different midwife thought i had too much fluid on my left side) and I was sent for a scan and all was fine. Just waiting for the hospital to call with another scan date but feeling worried and fed up, wondering about anyone else's experience of excess fluid and sudden fundal height growth. Thank you!!

I had exactly this- went for a scan and it turns out I am bigger because my baby is a frank breech! No extra fluid, baby laying across top/down left side so right side and pelvis empty.
Fingers crossed this is the same for you, try not to worry x

Thank you...baby is head down, but maybe with the fluid moving from side to side it is all to do with the position. I hoped all the worry was over after the first scan for polyhydramnios came back clear. x

I was diagnosed with PH at about 35 weeks. There are a few sinister reasons for it, but most of those would be picked up at the anomaly scan at 20 weeks. But very often it's just "one of those things". For us there was no obvious cause.
I was warned about potential cord prolapse if my waters went - if the head isn't engaged the waters can take the cord with them.
My waters went just after 37 weeks, in a MASSIVE way. Proper Hollywood waters breaking. Contractions started 30 mins later.

I developed polyhydramnios at around 30 weeks. To be honest, although I was pretty uncomfortable towards the end I didn't really have any major complications with it. They kept a very close eye on me and the baby was being monitored for a couple of hours every other day for a few weeks. I ended up being induced on my due date.
The main thing to be aware of (IF it turns out to be be this) is that if your waters break you must get onto all 4's and call an ambulance straight away.
Good luck with the scan!
