Second Opinion? - ADHD Assessment

Has anyone sought a second opinion regarding an adhd diagnosis?

It's becoming a bit of obsession. I'm convinced I have been wrongly diagnosed as not having it and would like a second opinion (first assessment not psychiatric led). I feel I might be missing out on valuable meds. I feel shame in wanting another opinion as I've already spent money on the first assessment (private). Little support with this in real life.

Anyone?

Why do you think you were miss diagnosed? Did you do the screening and then full assessment?

I didn't receive the full assessment. It was stopped on account of not being an appropriate service for me. The assessment was in two parts and I didn't meet the criteria on account of not enough childhood evidence so it wasn't furthered. I think I was ADD as opposed to ADHD as a child. There are no adults in my life that collaborate details about my childhood. I scored high on an autism questionnaire. Two of my dc show ADD traits. It would explain the very dysregulated behaviour of the generation about me. There is too much evidence to be overlooked.

Was it just the childhood evidence or was there anything else you didn’t meet? Private or NHS? I didn’t have evidence from childhood but still got a diagnosis, it was eluded to though that if I was borderline it would have been hard to diagnose without. ‘Luckily’ I wasn’t borderline.

I also had no adults who could corroborate what i was like as a child, my parents - 1 is no longer alive, and the other wouldnt remember any details! However the psychiatrist was able to diagnose based on my memerories of childhood along with extra adult collateral information, I needed 3 different adults to answer questions about me (one of whomever has known me since 11 which probably helped) I believe there is a test you can take as part of the assessment if you cannot find enough adults to answer which would take the place of 1 of the collateral forms. I didnt have it but I hink its a test where they track your eye positions or something like that while you do the test.

Feel like I'm stuck in a horrible loop. I'm speaking to a GP tomorrow to see if I can get some guidance.
