Help Nikah etiquette.When do you buy a present/card?

Hello lovely mumsnetters,
I need guidance. Please be kind with my ignorance. I work with a lovely Muslim student and she is getting married on the 23rd. The Nikah.
Then she is planning on big celebration next March/Easter.
As a friend when do you buy a present/card?

Right after the Nikah is fine.

Although after March/bigger planned event is also fine.

No hard-n-fast "rules" on that to be honest.

If you are a guest at the nikah you can bring the card/gift with you. And if she's inviting you to the walima in March you can wait until then. But if you're not a guest and you just want to congratulate your student you can give her a card/gift after the nikah, and no need for a separate card/gift next year.
