Reputable charities?

As-salaamu alaykum everyone.

Can anyone recommend any reputable charities to donate to, ideally those who are supporting our brothers and sisters globally?

I used to use human appeal, however I’m starting to lose confidence about how reputable this organisation is/whether donations are going where advertised.

Many thanks

Asalamu Alaikum,

I have been donating to Islamic relief, I looked up the UK version on the government charity regulator and they seem to spend a lot more of their income than human appeal. But that is the only assurance I have of them. I’ve also been worried about my donations reaching people in need

Salam alaikum, I used to donate to those kind of charities but I became increasingly disillusioned with them over a number of years and then last year just stopped with them. I decided instead to just find people i know here with connections abroad. They tell me who they have in mind and i give to whoever’s story resonates with me in general. That way i know it goes direct, not sitting in an account and not being used in random ways. Can you do this?

My DH used to volunteer for a very large Muslim charity here in the UK and although they used 100% of donations but they had a lot of money to spend on dinners out, flying the CEO all over the world and travel expenses. So it was more of a business then a charity. He stopped volunteering for them after he foubd out and witnessed it.

I donate to family "back home" as they are in poverty. And I donate to a family friend who helps in Yemen. That's where my zakat. goes. I do some Sadaqah to charities but not large amounts anymore.

Ummah welfare trust is supposed to be legitimate. Also One Nation.

MATW are good. They do a lot of ground work in Gaza too.

Are you able to share which charity it was?
