Food ideas for a birthday party

We are having a party for DS 1st birthday which is coming up in a few weeks. This will consist of 25 close family members. How can we feed them all cheap as possible?

Ideas would be appreciated, thank you

Asalam, will the guests be having lunch or dinner or is it just snacks?

Wasalam, for snack foods, watermelon is always popular round here, and kheer is an easy-to-make dessert that can be made more exciting with different ingredients added in. We'll often make a bigger batch and then divide up into several different flavours.

If you're thinking about a meal, what does your local halal butcher have coming in that's likely to be cheap? A relatively small amount of meat can be bulked out with veg - kebabs, etc, can all look and taste great with only a little meat.

Chickpeas and lentils are great options too - maybe some dhal dishes?

DC suggests "Chips!". (They're 2 though, so perhaps not the best menu planner).

Marinated chicken wings are great and cheap or chicken cutlets, potato salad, mixed veg and rice dish.

Chips are also great!
