Do you find the idea of enforced national service a challenge?

The conservative policy of introducing national service to some of my peers seems to be a n intentional provocative policy for the conservatives to regain reform voters.

We know that there is a disproportionate low number of Muslims in our armed forces but I think a policy that may means a number of young Muslim women and men being 'press ganged' into military roles where there is a real fear of Islamaphobia being present needs thoight.

Where do you stand on this?

I'm unsure if legally the government can force 18 year old adults to do this. You can't just suddenly make up a law like that. Human rights have changed totally since this was in place. I don't agree that anyone should be press ganged into this.

They have said the military side is completely voluntary and would be assessed for suitability like the regular recruits are.

I wouldn't worry, in the very unlikely case that it does somehow go ahead there are the other options like health care 12 times to complete it too.

I mean at this stage tories can promise us the moon will be made of cheese and immigrants will be catapulted across the channel personally by nigel farage. they are not going to win so it makes no difference what they put on the manifesto

It's irrelevant because they won't get in again.

There is also the option of working in the NHS etc. so no one is being forced into the army

Are you posting this for genuine engagement or is this another faux-concern post like the ones on the CITME board, to stir up Anti-Muslim sentiment?

At this point, the Tories can say they'll make it compulsory for everyone to wear frilly tutus and fairy wings if they want. They're done and nothing they say they want to do matters.
