Good animated songs for children

DS (17mo) and I love looking at these on youtube.

They're really beautiful animations of lullabys from around the world

Turkish Lullaby

Greek lullaby

French lullaby

We also love this

It's a big world - Rene and Jeremy

I just wondered if anyone knows of any other animated songs we could look at?

I've tried searching for other stuff on youtube but there's so much crap for kids out there it's depressing (e.g. 100s of squeaky renditions of twinkle twinkle little star with terrible graphics).

They don't need to be lullabies necessarily, anything with a good tune that's nicely put together would make us very happy [smile[

I like the Twinkle Twinkle by these guys. It's a bit disney, but I like it

Thanks for the reply, but it's a little too cutsy for me. (Sorry I know I must sound so ungrateful.)

I'm just a bit fed up with all that stuff. (If I hear Old McDonald again I'll scream!) Isn't anyone doing any quality stuff for kids? DS is absolutely mesmerised by the lovely lullabies I've linked to above, particularly the Turkish one.

WE sometimes look at this version of The Lion Sleeps Tonight

I'm not as fond of it as the others, but I remember the song from my childhood and it makes me smile. (A-wumba-way )

Maybe that's the way to go. Maybe I should look for music videos which are good for little ones - can anyone think of any?

oooh. I like this one. Not great to start by lovely by the end

Hi StarOfValkyrie, thanks for coming back despite me being so bloody ungrateful

That one's lovely. I'll show it to DS tomorrow. I hadn't planned it, but this is starting to become part of his bedtime routine. (Bath, story, feed, computer lullaby, feed again, sleep at last!) I started looking at lullabies online with DS couple of weeks ago because he was really restless, wouldn't sleep and I'd just had enough and needed a bit of a rest from trying to get him to sleep. Now he's started to expect it, but I don't mind, they are lovely, and it does do the trick.

southeastastra I'd totally forgotten about that tune, I've had it in my head all day now! Thanks for that

I like the Swedish lullaby too, even though it is a bit mournful.

Not lullabies but check out eric Herman on YouTube. Can't link using phone, but the pirate song is a favourite of the kids I look after, and the toddlers love the elephant song.

lowrib · 19/06/2010 09:58

Hiya Mousey84, thanks . The elephant song is quite catchy, isn't it?! I've got it stuck in my head now!

For those looking for suitable music for kids check these out they are brilliant and provide a real alternative to the very unsuitable material that's out there now. As the mum of an 11 year old daughter I am well aware of girls being bombarded with unsuitable material. It's scary and makes me very angry.
