DP wants some recommendations for new music to listen to.

It doesn't have to be current stuff, just different from what he listens to already.

His current likes are a mix of Rock and Dance, such as Foo Fighters, Guns 'n Roses, Mumford and Sons, The Gaslight Anthem, Moby, Chicane, and Tony de Vit.

He wants something different from this, that is 'inspiring'.

Hit me with your ideas.

Biffy Clyro
Pendulum

southeastastra · 25/05/2010 22:51

big audio dynamite, they're also re-releasing some stuff i think

Snorbs · 25/05/2010 23:00

Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid. Really, really good.

Florence and the Machine is worth a try, too. And I think there's a new Goldfrapp CD out but I haven't got that (yet).

DH suggested Queensryche

Katisha · 25/05/2010 23:09

Gorecki Third Symphony
Arvo Part : Spiegel im Spiegel
Barber : Adagio for Strings

Am trying to suggest some chilled contemporary but accessible classical music basically.

Thistledew · 26/05/2010 20:42

Sorry to disappear last night - thanks for all the suggestions.

Biffy Clyro is apparently right on spot- well done to magpie

Will have to have a listen to some of the others. Thanks for the suggestions for classical music. DP is trying to get 'into' it a bit more, but my favourite Latin American Baroque doesn't quite do it for him.

Phew - thought I'd killed the thread with it!

Field Music - any albums - all fantastic. They are heroes in our house.

Amapoleon · 26/05/2010 23:14

I've just discovered a group called The Courteeners. they have an 80's Manchester sound, a bit Smiths or Joy division.

Hi Thistledew iknow it's been awhile but I have only just found this thread.

Why not google Lastfm. It is an internet radio station that customises music for you.

You can choice a genre ie Industrial Rock, garage, folk whatever ....
or you can type in an artist eg Jane's addcition and the station will continuly play different bands that are similar to your request. I have had some good new (to me) finds on their. As the music is playing there is a biography of the band on screen.

really good.
