I used to be really into music (rock indie guitar type music) buy all the lastest albums and go to gigs etc before dcs were born. Have been really rubbish since then but have recently found myself getting mch more into it again.
so what classic albums have I missed from my collection?
TIA

American Idiot/ Greenday / Released 2004

The Black Parade/ My Chemical Romance / R 2006

Infinity on High/ Fall Out Boy / R 2002

Black holes and revelations/ Muse / R 2006

Those 4 off the top of my head.....will add some more later.

IwishIwasJamesBond · 25/05/2010 10:09

Thanks Daftpunk. Have got the Geenday, will download the others.

Minutes to Midnight/ Linkin Park / R 2007

Only by the Night/ kings of Leon / R 2008

The Libertines/ The Libertines / R 2004

These are the albums I think everyone should have, all played to death by me but you could hate all of them...ha ha

I like alot of dance type music too...N-Dubz/Tinchy Stryder for example...really shouldn't be overlooked, even if you're indie/rock.

daftpunk · 25/05/2010 10:17

ps;

Check out The Big Pink.....love them atm

LouMacca · 25/05/2010 10:53

Hopes and Fears by Keane (2004), an amazing album and one of my all time faves.

daftpunk · 25/05/2010 11:00

Ohhhh yes.....how could I forget hopes and fears....

Bedshaped & this is the last time.....fantastic songs

And Keane are brilliant live..

LouMacca · 25/05/2010 11:06

daftpunk - this is the last time sends shivers down my spine!

I saw Keane at the MEN a few years ago, they were amazing. Not as keen (no pun intended!) on their recent stuff although not bought the new EP yet.

daftpunk · 25/05/2010 11:22

Sends shivers down my spine too.....beautiful song.

I saw them Feb 2009 at the O2 (London)..they are fantastic live....yeah agree, their new stuff isn't too good...didn't really like Perfect Symmetry, I think they're starting to sound abit like The Script (decent(ish) band....but.....?)

I think all bands have that "one" album that will never be topped...even brilliant bands..

Greenday will never top American Idiot.

IwishIwasJamesBond · 25/05/2010 11:35

I think that is true although the albums that people like will always differ. I love american idiot. am now feeling quite pleased that i might not be as out of touch as i thought as I have Libertines, muse, greenday, keane, kings of leon adn the big pink. thanks.

Those bands/albums are the "must haves" imo.....could list 100 albums tbh....esp if you want to go back 10 yrs.

You are deffo not out of touch if you have all that stuff....most smaller indie bands who play Reading (for example) their albums are not "must haves"

You have to have fat of the land/ the prodigy...well over 10 yrs old but a "must have"...also get some stuff by Pearl Jam and Primal Scream ....oh and get some Kaiser Chiefs, Biffy Clyro, Florence + the Machine, Radiohead, & The Killers.

Do not....under any circumstances....buy anything Lily Allen...I am not a musical snob, and will listen to pretty much anything....but Lily Allen's music is truly painful...

Enjoy

see ya x

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyy......TSH....!

I'm fine thank you.....enjoying my self imposed exile ha ha. I'm loving not having to deal with all the anguish that followed me around active convos....whether it was real or pseudo, I could never really work out....but I don't miss it....they can find another christian to throw to the lions...lol

I miss you, someguy, atlantis, moondog, Alouiseg, custardo, MQ, onager and VTutu.....no one else really....

I saw the BNP teeacher thread...took all my control not to post on it....but you said it all for me...I don't think some people are living in the real world tbh...

Anyway....enough about ME..because it was always all about me (lol)...(I was only ever on about 2 threads a week)....I'm happy that you love Linkin Park....I could always tell you had good taste in music..

daftpunk · 26/05/2010 10:56

PS;

I also miss Crystal123 + complimentary....-----> look at my face...

Placebo are very good...did a brilliant cover of running up that hill (Kate Bush)

Right...off to Ikea with dh.....yeeeehaaaaaar!

one's that have stuck in my mind

Killers- Sams Town
Hard Fi- Stars of CCTV
Doves- The last Broadcast
Elbow- Seldom Seen Kid

and many many more!!

daftpunk · 26/05/2010 13:44

TSH;

My period of exile ends on 1st september, not that anything would have changed by then, I will still support the BNP and will still think homosexuality isn't natural....those 2 things were enough for some people to want me shot....oh, and I like Frankie Boyle....another nail in my coffin.

Y'know it was always the same people giving me earache...I even said to them, you don't like me, I don't like you..just go away...ignore me..!....they never did.... so what can you do..?

I needed to get myself out of active convos, had a few people getting way too personal and over the top, it was getting ridiculous tbh, almost obsessive.....which became all too clear on the site stuff thread, I'm sure a few people were foaming at the mouth whilst typing out how much they hate me....(as if I care..?? lol)

MN is too PC for me, I am aware of that, and I don't want to cause any problems...hence my decision to quit for a while.....a good decision I think.....certainly for me.

Nope...not on FB...never have been, dont have the time tbh...

Are you on it..?

Lol at Ghandi....I think I came out as Stalin, not that I took much notice of it.

Yes, MN is very Liberal, which is fine...I know a few Liberals in RL, they're ok with me... they appreciate different views and like a bit of variety...I don't think the problems I have on here are anything to do with politics...more a clash of personalities...

3 months will be easy, I don't really have alot of time for the internet tbh, not sure how I managed to be on here as much as I was, drawn in by interesting personalities I suppose..(just thought of more great posters...Lemonmuffin, Claig, TheFoosa, Aligrylis, gingersling, scottishmummy, redlentil and portofino.....all tres cool...)

I will never get as involved on here as I was...I'm only really interested in politics....will post my views and leave it there.....only so many times you can go over the same things....

Keep in touch TSH.....x

compo · 26/05/2010 18:29

Manic Street Preachers - i forget which one

freebirdx · 26/05/2010 19:03

The Kooks and Fleetfoxes - to add to your list.

Daftpunk. i joined MN just before the election, had lurked abit at work before joining, you are one of the few posters who's posts i always looked for. i couldn't see anything wrong with your bnp threads, but then i also appreciate variety. glad you haven't left. MN is a bit boring without you.

daftpunk · 26/05/2010 22:29

Muchas Gracias FBX......tbh, MN is bound to be a bit boring after the election,(if you're political of course)......

Remember, there's more to life than MN...!

Nite x

ThatVikRinA22 · 26/05/2010 22:49

a couple off the top of my head

kaiser chiefs - Employment
jarvis - jarvis cocker
glassvegas - glassvegas
pj harvey - songs from the city, songs from the sea
yeah yeah yeahs - its blitz

im sure i ll think of more!

when feeling a little more mellow love fleetfoxes, kings of convenience, and teenage fanclub, their new one is good - called bandwagonesque.

and hello to DP, life on MN would be very one dimensional without you.

daftpunk · 26/05/2010 23:00

Thank you Vtutu.....

And thanks for your posts on the site stuff thread....takes alot of balls to go against the majority.

Appreciated it

x

ThatVikRinA22 · 26/05/2010 23:05

no probs. i am very happy to simply agree to disagree with you on some things, hounding you off the boards is wrong and starting hate campaigns is wrong -er.....(if thats a word even!)
