OK, too embarassed to put in thread starter, but I'll be brave -deep breath- any fans of Yes? Not "Owner of a Heart" Yes but "Close to the Edge" Yes.

Sorry, this is a daft thread, this is a site for mums not dads.

i'm not a big fan, but i love yes's heart of the sunrise and sweetness as well as king crimson's moonchild all from the buffalo66 soundtrack.

King Crimson as in King Crimson and The Biscuit Boys who were on the tele tubbies?

I like Close to the Edge Yes, and some King Crimson/Robert Fripp stuff, but then I do rather like a bit of prog rock.

Why?

Did you see the BBC4 programmes on prog rock last Friday?

Used to love KC but haven't listened to any of their stuff for YONKS!

I like Court of the Crimson King but that is about it.

I love Court of the Crimson King - it was on my car stereo solidly for a few months, but been replaced by Green Day lately. I've also got cassettes ot Larks Tongues in Aspic and Three of a Perfect Pair somewhere, but I can't remember much about them tbh - not had a cassette player handy since two cars ago

I've been listening to a lot of Hawkwind recently too....

I can't believe that other women like King Crimson. Thought it was just a man thing!
Hawkwind I like, too. I like that whole space rock thing.
KC's "Red" what an album- very grungy.

Adrian Belew is fab in his own right.

I'll have a look at the Red album Marantha.

I've seen Hawkwind twice fairly recently. On one occassion they were great and next time totally rubbish! Go figure!!

I love 'Epitaph', too. What a voice Greg Lake has. Fantastic. King Crimson seem to have a bit of a reputation as being good but cold musically, can't see it myself. I find their music deeply moving.

It's one of the best songs ever written imo......(and probably the song to sum up my life..lol)

Don't worry, daftpunk, these lyrics mean more to me than anything Coldplay have written, too. I often think of them.

Hey, there are worse ways of selecting fav mumsnetters. I know nothing about you, daftpunk, but I guess if you're a fan of the great King Crimson, you can't be all bad.
And you know from a female point of view, the young Bill Bruford is reason enough to like them. Not that looks influence my love for music- if it did, I'd like the music of Take That or that handsome James Blunt.

marantha; you wouldn't know much about me, I'm not on mumsnet very much anymore....but you're right, I'm not all bad, (and I'll probably sit back & laugh...)

And yeah, I've never been influenced by looks musically, was never into "boy bands"... I love people's minds and I admire talent....
