Gig virgin needs help with Wembley Stadium info!

DH and I have been bought tickets to see Muse in September at Wembley.

I'm really excited, but also very nervous because I've never been to a stadium gig before (in fact, I've never been to any big concert before [!)

We don't know if we should drive up from south coast on friday afternoon and face the rush hour traffic, or take the train up. Should we stay over? Where should we stay? Can you suggest a good hotel near the stadium?

I'm beginning to panic!

Drive/train up, stay in a nice hotel in Central London and get the tube to Wembley. Really easy.
Tube back into central London and them home next day.
I would never stay near the stadium, it's not great round there.
Make a weekend of it.

So stay central as opposed to Wembley?
Can you recommend?
We can get train into Charing Cross or Victoria. Should we stay nearish the station?

Sorry for all these questions!!

It's probably cheaper to stay in Wembley but there's nothing to do round there, pubs are grim etc.

If you were in central London, you could go out for meal/drink afterwards, loads of places open late, shops next morning.

Had a quick look, Travelodge Covent Garden 11th Sept £99 per night for 2 adults.

Tube to Wembley pretty straightforward from there, just one change.

Although a Travelodge would not be classed as a 'nice' hotel, but it's ok for one night.

Thanks Malovitt!
That is really helpful. I'm afraid I'm a bit of a country bumpkin!!

Hey TeamEdward, I'm going too! Which date are you going? I've got General Admission tickets for both nights.

There's a discussion thread on the Muse.mu site for people travelling to the gigs. Apparently all the hotels around Wembley were booked up within hours of the dates being announced.
Better to stay in central London and get the Tube in. It's quite easy. I went to see U2 at Wembley last summer and there was no problem getting the tube there and back.
Now, this is scary - I'm going to see Muse in June at the Stade de France in Paris on my own! I have no hotel booked yet, no travel (hoping to do Eurostar) and I've never been out of the UK on my own before. Yikes!

MBM, Paris sounds very scary! I'd be having palpitations already!!

We've got seats for the Friday night.
