The Beatles Remastered Box Sets - a question!

Am looking to buy the above for my DP, but am confused as there are two versions - mono and stereo! Does anyone know which one is the one to get? Or is the idea that you have to buy both to have the full back catalogue? Any steer gratefully received!

If he likes their early stuff I'd get the mono as it's closer to the original. I think some of the later albums are missing from that set though, so maybe get stereo if he prefers the later albums. I can't remember which albums are in which set - are they the same price?

They are really cool though - they've got mini versions of all the inserts, posters etc.
