I saw them last week and wondered if any MNers were there?

Seems like it - but they were my first ever favourite band way back when in my early teens. I even liked the early stuff with John Foxx which was far more new-wave/post-punk/whatever. I saw them at St David's Hall in Cardiff in around 81/82 I think, then I got into the Smiths and all things indie and thought no more of them really until recently with all these 80s bands reforming. I'm toying with getting their greatest hits or something to sing along with in the car!

mejon, thanks for that. to be honest although i was a big fan mself in the 80's-like you i hadn't given them much thought either.

wondered about them whenever i heard another 80's group were doing a nostalgia tour or, but didn't think they would ever reform.

It was bloody brilliant- except for a couple of pompous plinkity plonk keyboard nonsense tracks that i probably loved when i was 15 and was trying to be as serious and arty as only a 15 year old can.

I have also just bought their greatest hits, which comes with a dvd of all their videos- hmm is all i can say...esp the very ropey and exceptionally non erotic visions in blue.

John Foxx was Ultravox.

The band was finished when he left.

Midge Ure? Do me a favour.

Imho, like.
