Just been thinking about this lately, as I would like it to be a rather musical affair, but also startting a third thread to see which one is most responded to/ignored !!!
So far I have Live Forever - Oasis

hey mb. long time, no mn

jojosmaman · 22/11/2008 15:38

If I was feeling particularly mean and wanted everybody to shed tears at my passing I would play this.

If it was a joint funeral for me and dp I would like this especially if we had been hit by a ten ton truck!

And for ds, it would have to be his favourite song of all time, this!!

Blandmum · 22/11/2008 15:39

I pop in form time to time. Good to see you!

jojosmaman · 22/11/2008 15:49

Or this and I would like everyone to do the whooo at the end whilst clapping!

mackerel · 22/11/2008 15:50

Not sure for myself, but DH wants Born Free and |national Express (!!!) by the Divine Comedy.

janeite · 22/11/2008 15:51

Pointy - such a lovely song though.

pointydog · 22/11/2008 15:55

I love the Smiths, always found them very funny and witty. Asleep is possible the only song of those I found really really sad. It's about suiceide, no? Although I suppose it's about whatever you want it to be.

Here's a random thought. I rarely think of mn in my day to day life but I was driving to work one day about a month ago and 'all the time in the world' came on, louis armsytrong, and the thought of mb and her dh popped ito my head.

pointydog · 22/11/2008 15:55

'of theirs'

janeite · 22/11/2008 15:59

I had a big debate with a colleague the other day about The Smiths and he was trotting out the old "they're so miserable" lines and I was trying to convince him about exactly your points, of their wittiness and cheeky edge. "Asleep" would probably not be a good song to convince him of that!

pointydog · 22/11/2008 16:05

yes, a lot of people think miserable. I find them uplifting. They put me in a better mood if I listen to them.

Mercy · 22/11/2008 16:11

The Smiths were brilliant (I saw them many years ago)

Herbietea - Always on My Mind is a great choice, I think I'd have that one too (not the Pet Shop Boys version though!)

Right will read the thread properly now.

thumbwitch · 22/11/2008 23:21

The Mozart Lacrymosa is a great one - I'd like that one too.
And the Ashokan Farewell, and Arvo Part's Spiegel im Spiegel but with 'cello rather than violin.

Getting carried away now - it'll be a looong service...

barbarianoftheuniverse · 22/11/2008 23:46

wake me up before you gogo

turquoise · 23/11/2008 00:07

Battle hymn of the Republic (if enough people turn up, othewise it sounds appalling).
w
When the saints go marching in - preferably with full jazz band.

Then as I go through the curtains, the White Horses theme. Freaky, but is rather special to me, and a lot of my friends understand.

drinkmoretea · 23/11/2008 00:36

ooh, I so want WHAM 'Wake me up before you go go'

Must have it....

pinkfrog · 23/11/2008 00:43

Dont stop me now - Queen

Hips dont lie - Shakira (fav holiday song of all time)

I am what I am - Birley Shassey

...and most important the theme song from the film Shirley Valentine

BodenGroupie · 23/11/2008 01:01

Comfortably Numb, Pink Floyd

Friend's husband had Always Look on the Bright Side of Life, slightly ruined by the vicar's censorship of "shit" - loud horn sound over the top made everyone giggle.

lillypie · 23/11/2008 05:00

Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead

peonyflower · 23/11/2008 20:33

DH wants the Long and Winding Road (Beatles)for all to howl to.

lotuseener · 23/11/2008 20:33

Here comes the sun by Richie Havens

BigBadMouse · 23/11/2008 20:38

Atlantic Avenue - Average White Band

solidgoldbrass · 23/11/2008 20:39

I'd have this because it will shock, horrify and infuriate everyone who listens to the words and give them something to talk about in the pub afterwards hehehehe.
