Just been thinking about this lately, as I would like it to be a rather musical affair, but also startting a third thread to see which one is most responded to/ignored !!!
So far I have Live Forever - Oasis

Evernescance 'Bring me to Life'
Queen 'Can't stop me now'

Those are my choices!

Chatkins · 21/11/2008 21:40

O yup, yep thats the one tiredemma, thanks love !
I'll have a silent respectful tear now for my dear old nan. She wasn't a big music fan at all really. It was a surprise to walk into the church and hear music she had picked herself. Made me think more about the person she was aside from a nan, a mum, a great-nan, and an old frail lady.
Feeling a bit emotional now !

Will have to request it at mine in pure respect to her. You need to think about these things though, don't you ? What if you died suddenly and your loved ones played some terrible crap at your funeral ?

I would have to have wonderwall, Oasis, for dh cos it was our firts dance at wedding, and we firt met arguing about who was better, Oasis or Pulp !

mamalovesmojitos · 21/11/2008 21:44

absolutely Schubert's lied An die musik. link here

translations differ, but this gives the idea:

O gracious Art, in how many grey hours,
When life's fierce orbit encompassed me,
Hast thou kindled my heart to warm love,
Transfigured me into a better world!

Oft has a sigh, escaping from thy harp,
A sweet, a sacred harmony of thine
Thrown open the heaven of better times,
O gracious Art, for that I thank thee!

Sibh · 21/11/2008 21:46

Kirsty McColl's 'Thankyou for the days'

kayzisexpecting · 21/11/2008 21:47

I would like
Queen - Who wants to live forever and/or
Queen - Another one bites the dust

My DH would have this

His Grandma had Jason Donavon- Any Dream will do, most of us started to laugh when it started which apparently is what she wanted to happen

basementbear · 21/11/2008 21:48

Not sure, but I want the same epitaph as Spike Milligan: "I told you I was ill .."

I'm a huge PJ Harvey fan so I would love 'We Float' from the Stories... album

Jux · 21/11/2008 21:57

My funeral will take a few days. I want Purcell's Funeral Sentences, Mozart Requiem, Faure Requiem, Caldara Crucifixus, Allegri Miserere, and a few other things.

Chatkins · 21/11/2008 21:57

this

hellsbells76 · 21/11/2008 21:58

my mum went to a funeral where the coffin was brought in to the strains of the archers theme tune and carried out to 'another one bites the dust'.

i'm having 'who knows where the time goes' by fairport convention (the liege and lief version with sandy denny singing) and 'the joy of living' by ewan maccoll.

if only to force my mates to sit through some folk music mwahahahaha

pushchair · 21/11/2008 22:00

top twenty list

TequilaMockinBird · 21/11/2008 22:00

Like a bridge over troubled water by Simon and Garfunkel.

Reminds me of my dad but his wife wouldn't let me have at played at his funeral , so I'd like it played at mine instead

TequilaMockinBird · 21/11/2008 22:01

have it played

Chatkins · 21/11/2008 22:03

out of that list pushchair I'd choose with or without you, love that, what a wonderful world and knockin on heavens door.
