Ah yes, had to listen to This is the Day too. So long ago - frightening! I wonder what he's doing now?

22 years ago. Oh shit ...

OMG!! I used to LOVE The The sooo much when I was a teen.

I have got some of their stuff on my ipod.

'Uncertain Smile' with amazing Jools Holland on the piano - one of my all time favourite songs.

elsiepiddock · 17/11/2008 18:44

The lead singer is dead iirc..

elsiepiddock · 17/11/2008 18:46

Have just googled Matt Johnson, he's alive and well !

RaggedRobin · 17/11/2008 21:39

i love "uncertain smile" and "this is the day". there was a quirky film in the 80's/90's that used "this is the day" perfectly in the soundtrack, but i can't remember what it was. anyone?

Thanks for posting that SEA. Always loved that track and had quite forgotten it!

RaggedRobin · 17/11/2008 23:07

elsiepiddock · 17/11/2008 23:18

Think I got him confused with the lead singer of The Associates, another group I loved when I was about 13.

Now that lead singer is dead.
