Just heard the last release. Unsure.. but i still think slash is ACE and Axl has the coolest voice.

hey stub, did you read Slash's auto biography?
Anyway, it's a really good eye opener.
Axl is the only original member left in the band and as he holds the rights to the name, he is still GnR, which makes me quite angry.
The bloke has so many mental issues, he has been so nasty to the other band members, that I shall carry on listening to Velvet revolver instead!
By they way, thought the new single was awful!

Waiting for a charity shop copy . Awful song yes, not sure if it will grow on me either! Velvet revolver! Never heard of them

i got the new stuff a few months ago, and i think its brilliant!

StubbleOnChin · 16/11/2008 22:35

Was it worth the wait? How many years to be dissapointed with the single's release?

They were fab in their time, Axl and Slash are both good at what they do - except Slash is actually a God in his domain and Axl just wants everyone to believe he is a god - because he thinks he is so every fu**er else should too

Anyway, was let down by the spag. incident so am not holding my breath... but I will part with cash because even old scratches have to be itched!

I did go to see GNR about 2 years ago... oldish rock stars... on the plus side Sebastian Bach (Skid Row) was there too (yum) and I was far enough back from the stage that I could ignore the extra chins

Tortington · 22/11/2008 02:27

i listen to them in the car every day!

however the GNR now - is dead to me.

without the original line up - they are mearly impersonators of GNR

stubbleonchin · 22/11/2008 02:34

Not the best but..
Whats Not to Love!

Been to see Velvet Revolver (my dp lurves em) have to say Duff was still looking buff but its the only concert that I have ever been to that I thought my ears were actually bleeding. GnR have had their day but will be parting with the cash for DP xmas pressie.

Weeellll;

The new album, I would say it is pretty good considering...

I have a mathmatical reason for this, they are now 1/5th of the talent and the album is more than 1/5th as good as the old stuff IYSWIM. (Although I suppose you could argue they are 1/3rd as Slash and Axl each made up a third and the others the other third... I shall be quiet now )

Passable, not dire but I probably wouldn't recommend anyone but a die hard fan buy it new!

Chirpygirl · 25/11/2008 14:32

Hmm. I have ordered asked DH for this for christmas, am a bit as Slash was always the reason I loved GnR, Axl is great, but Slash is just unreal, so without him I can't see it being as good....
and now have read that NCbirdy, am thinking def to get DH to spend his money on it

NCbirdy · 25/11/2008 16:39

Good plan!

The other thing I have noticed is that they over play the Axl wail/shreik a bit. I guess in an effort to keep the iconic sound of GNR.
