I saw a documentary about the singer guy.Wasn't his Dad some famous scientist/mathematician or something?

feetheart · 09/09/2008 23:31

Just heard wonderful live rendition of 'One Day like this" a la Chas and Dave on Radcliffe and Maconi, nearly crashed the car as I was laughing so much

Just heard the news. Fantastic . And I am going to see them in October

PerkinWarbeck · 10/09/2008 15:50

marvellous news. Seeing them at the Roundhouse next month. MIL is going too .

wordgirl · 10/09/2008 17:04

Wow you have a cool MIL PW. My 79 year old mum likes One Day Like This. Terry Wogan plays it so it must be ok . Although I'm not sure that's really much of a recommendation for Elbow really.

I'm so pleased for them. Saw them at Glastonbury this year and they are by far my best and most lasting memory - absolutely brilliant.

bronze · 10/09/2008 17:11

Brilliant news.
Wires makes me cry every bloody time.

Honeymum · 10/09/2008 22:54

Richly deserved. I love them. We are off to see them too, next month. Can't wait.

caspercat · 11/09/2008 14:48

I was so chuffed when they won i punched DH a bit too hard!! He was not pleased.
Such a great band, they really, really deserve it. And Guy seems such a great bloke.
We're also going to see them in October. Think i might cry my way through most of it (blaming the pregnancy hormones).

Bronze, i think Wires was by Athlete - or is there some secret elbow track i've missed which i must go track down? You're right though, it makes me cry too xxx

'One day like this' does funny things to my tummy! It's so lovely to hear them a bit more upbeat! Have you heard their rendition of Independent Women by Destiny's Child - fricking hilarious! I heart Guy Garvey!!

Honeymum · 11/09/2008 20:04

I have told DH that I will be leaving him for Guy Garvey one day soon....He is indeed the thinking woman's beardy crumpet!

Songbird · 11/09/2008 23:02

Definitely! I remember seeing him being interviewed at Glastonbury a few years ago and he was a bit boozy and being so funny and adorable! DH and I thought it was so cute because he and his interviewer - Edith Bowman - were really flirting; we found out the next day that they were seeing each other!

FF, the documentary was made about the father of the lead singer of an American band called "Eels".
