Does anyone remember the 'All Aboard' compilation, and does it still exist?

It started with the Laughing Policeman I think and included things like Nellie the Elephant and the Hippo song...

Would like to track down a copy for DS if poss.

I think we have a CD that has lots of those tracks on - hang on - will look!

tortoiseSHELL · 21/07/2008 21:59

This is the one we have

tortoiseSHELL · 21/07/2008 22:00

This one is similar, but may be more what you are describing

Wow, 'all aboard' is a classic in DH's family - much quoted and loved (lots of 'my boomerang won't come back!)but only on an old scratched record. We spent months and months on obscure old record sites and finally managed to track down a version on cassette - gave it to FIL a couple of years ago for his 60th. We meant to get it copied to CD but haven't yet. I hope you manage to get a copy - it's great for kids and there's not really anything else like it out there.

Thanks tortoiseSHELL - was looking at the Hello Children one on Amazon and think that is most similar.

HangingBelly - we had the LP when I was little, played ad nauseam, we LOVED it. Think my fave was a song called 'My Brother'... Foudn the Laughing Policeman a little scary tho...

Dd gave herself a nosebleed once by the distress caused by the Laughing Policeman!!!

RhinestoneCowgirl · 21/07/2008 22:11

That's it! That's the cover I remember and everything

Seriously tempted to bid, have no turntable anymore tho...

Ds1 loved it, but dd started screaming and screaming, and then the blood started gushing....that CD was taken OUT of the car PDQ!

tortoiseSHELL · 21/07/2008 22:14

It says at the bottom "NB For the winner who don?t have a record player I can include a copy of the album on a CD."

tortoiseSHELL · 21/07/2008 22:15

I remember being SO excited when I found Ed Stewart's Junior Choice on ebay - I played it so much when I was a kid, and now my own children dance round to the 'Funky Gibbon' etc.!

AAAh-ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-haaa!

I love love love All Aboard. "Sparkeee oh sparkeee. It is I, your piano!"

It was an absolute classic and I would be more than happy to listen to it in the car, instead of ELC Travelling Songs drivel we have (and the other one with old skool rap version of Old Mother Hubbard. Not as good as it sounds, btw)

Also loved Captain Beaky and his band.

So good I posted twice!

RhinestoneCowgirl · 21/07/2008 22:20

I tend to have the radio on for music or play my own CDs, but DS is now coming up for 2 and I'd like to get him something of his own.

He's also showing a liking for reggae and two tone

I know, I know. Am now wildly overexcited... I reckon I could sing every song on that playlist..

SuperBunny · 08/10/2008 21:21

How odd - I was just thinking about All Aboard, I googled and it came up with this thread.

Does anyone remember what else was on it? I thought I'd try to make a playlist on youtube.

So far, I have

The Laughing Policeman
Right Said Fred (the piano one by Bernard Cribbins)
Day-oh

That's it.

I hate to ressurect an old thread but please help!

SuperBunny · 08/10/2008 21:27

Just in case anyone is interested, a bit of googling found the track listing here
