I used to know loads but I'm struggling with ds who's now 5m, all I can remember is 'row your boat'and 'if you're happy and you know it'-even he's beginning to get tired of them

SEA, here's a highly inferior version

I learned it 2nd hand from DW so mine is different, but y'know I like to take a lot of disparate influences and really make a song my own, maaaaan. My prog rock version of Twinkle Twinkle has to be heard to be believed.

southeastastra · 05/06/2008 17:24

lol, maybe you should put yourself on youtube

LittleMyDancing · 05/06/2008 17:53

A belated thank you for the Tommy Thumb lyrics!

CorrieDale · 05/06/2008 18:02

Five little men in a flying saucer is my fave. Sorry - DS's. (Actually Bob the Builder is his current fave, but it always used to be 5 little men)

Posey · 05/06/2008 18:11

Anyone know this one? My pre-schoolers love it....

Open, shut them, open, shut them,
Give a little clap,
Open, shut them, open, shut them,
Lay them on your lap.
Creep them, creep them, creep them, creep them,
Right up to your chin,
Open wide your little mouth,
but do not let them in.
Open, shut them, open, shut them,
Don't get in a muddle,
Open, shut them, open, shut them,
Give someone a cuddle!

Don't teach them "This is the way the farmers ride", whatever you do. My DC's still like me to do that one, which would be fine except they are 12 and 11 and weigh a ton.

The big red bus the big red bus (big steering wheel action)
mini mini mini (small steering wheel action)
and the big red bus

repeat

Feraaaarri Feraaari (hand to the forehead, look at that car whizzing away action)

mini mini mini
and the big red bus

dd and all her mates adore this one!

My sister's kids do the Scottish version where you replace the big red bus with a Ford Escort (!!)

StarlightMcKenzie - I really like that monkey/crocodile one. What's the tune?!

MrsBadger · 05/06/2008 21:09

oh oh I know 'open, shut them' - no-one else does though...

blousy · 05/06/2008 21:11

this thread is making my eye twitch at the memory of years of 'musical minis' and 'jo jingles'! Torture!!

MrsBadger · 05/06/2008 21:15

although I do retain a certain fondness for that 'quiet be' song. 'Quickly climb the ladder, do not fall. Till we finally reach the steeple tall. And fold your arms and shut your eyes, and quiet be' or something like that (it has been about 3 years!)

My DS likes:

I'm like jelly wobbling on a plate, like jelly wobbling on a plate, like jelly wobbling, like jelly wobbling, like jelly wobbling on a plate

I'm like popcorn popping in the pan etc

I'm like icecream melting on the floor

with appropriate wobbling/popping/sliding movements

And the verses of row, row, row which go on to 'round the lake, when you see the crocodile, don't forget to quake'
