Help Required! Song choice 🙈

My daughter (age 13) does quite a bit of musical theatre and loves singing/dancing etc. She has been asked to sing at her year groups awards night in June and could pick any song she liked. She settled on an Adele song but it just doesn’t sound right 🙈 I think her voice is more suited to a ‘show’ type song. Anyone any suggestions?! I know nothing about singing but would be good to have a few options to try out if possible.

Greatest showman tunes maybe? This is me, million dreams, some high notes there, depends on her range too I guess

If she does musical theatre, then maybe ask one of the people who run the classes. They should be able to think of something that suits her range.

Somewhere over the rainbow maybe?

My young daughter sings too and her drama teacher reminds all the students all the time that " pop" songs quite often have age appropriate lyrics so go for show tunes or Disney.

I think something Disney would be ideal. She was singing a song from Tangled last night which sounded so much better and one from Shrek The Musical which again was good but neither are appropriate. At a loss but going to see what I can find out there 🙈 clueless Mum here 😂

My daughter wanted to do Adele, and hopelessly devoted to you at 11 ( which she was really good at ) but we decided on one from tangled circle.

First thought is “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana - would that feel too young for her?

What is her voice type? Can you give me an example of songs she has sung in the past/roles she has played. What does she like to sing? Legit/modern/ballad/up tempo etc

There is a beautiful Disneyesque but not Disney song called Ballerina from a show called Little Dancer but the sheet music is impossible to get. My daughter was given a copy by the composer via one of her teachers.

She could look at some of the Jukebox musicals for a more pop song. Examples would be It Might As Well Rain Until September from Beautiful or something from & Juliet

Or look at 13 the musical such as Lamest Place in the World

Or The Life I Never Led by Sister Act

Thanks everyone! We looked through all of these suggestions and think she is actually going to do the one from Moana - suits her voice so so much better! Appreciate the input 😀
