seems to be a huge cull of festivals this year / guess there are just so many the market can support

The live music scene in the UK has been utterly battered by COVID (people got used to Netflix) and Brexit (harder to tour). The big stadium tours are still happening but small and medium festivals are really struggling, along with the supply chain of event production companies. There's always been a bit of turnover but the costs are just going up at a time when people are watching their money.

Apparently Sign of the times about to fold too according to Embrace page.

Yet here where I am our town is having its first 3 day festival at the beach. It’s like Radio 1 roadshows again!
