BIG BAG SHEET MUSIC SOLD BY EX I LAWS WITHOUT MY CONSEN IN STAFFORD

I know that this is a long shot, I am after a big bag of sheet music (piano/keyboard/violin) which my ex in-laws sold years ago without my consent. It would have been bought with an organ off them. Some of it will have the names Joanne Barker, among others. Some music was my mother's and grandparents. All I remember is that the people who bought it came from Rugeley area maybe and collected it from Tillington area in Stafford. I'm after getting a piano/keyboard and have no sheet music and sheet music is so dear to buy now. Thank you

@Magic14 You may be better asking MNHQ to move this to a different topic, as the 'property' in this topic refers to housing rather than belongings. I hope you find your sheet music.

As above user said, you might want to ask Mumsnet to move this to a better topic eg Music or Chat.

Have you posted this on Nextdoor? You can specific the location of your post, and people who live in that area (ie Rugeley) will see it. And perhaps there are community pages for the two areas on Facebook you could post on as well, just to cover all your bases.

Good luck.

I do hope this turns up. I'd say you may be better off posting on a local FB:/Next door page. I understand that this music may be sentimental, but if it doesn't turn up, there are sheet music subscription series which give you access to loads of music for atoubd £8-£10/mknth. Eg Tomplay.

Look on eBay for sheet music have also seen it in charity shops

TotallyTwisted · 15/12/2024 11:31

In the words of Elsa, let it gooooo. It probably went in the recycling years ago.

You can buy for not a lot from
EBay (often job lots)
Oxfam bookshops

It's on Nextdoor, without any luck. I could not find a local Facebook page.

I am on benefits which is not what I want to be and no fault of my own.
I also am going to get a free piano.
I can't afford sheet music.
There were hundreds of pounds worth
I was told after the event

^ This. Unless you are very lucky, and someone on Facebook sees your message and recognises your music, it's gone.
As PP, trawl Gumtree, Vinted, eBay and charity shops for some new music.

Vettrianofan · 15/12/2024 20:25

I can honestly sympathise with OP. I was lucky enough to hold on to my own sheet music from years ago, and it's incredibly sentimental using that same sheet music years later as an adult learner.

Have everything crossed for you OP that someone may come across it or if not have a search on Ebay or similar for secondhand sheet music.

I agree it is expensive to buy brand new.

I'm from stafford although I don't live there now I visit family there. If you go onto fbk and search for spotted stafford you could try posting on that - there's a few other stafford groups you could try too.

Thank you for all your good wishes.

My mum was annoyed about it at the time, never said anything to keep the peace basically. Cos ex MIL couldn't be upset!
She had a piano, however sold it cos obv no gd me having it without music — my mum asked me at the time.
When I said about getting a free piano, she'd forgotten about me having no music.

My daughter who is a professional singer subscribes to one of the on line sheet music libraries and uses this for both singing and playing the piano.

Do you have access to a printer? You can get a lot of Public Domain music for free here - imslp.org/wiki/Main_Page
