A safe place thread to share anything related to the music of Ms Swift.

62 year old Swiftie here. Late to the party but I'm fully on board now. I soooo want tickets for Wembley. Hoping that there are some more resale tickets nearer the time.
Favourite album Red probably.
Favourite songs All Too Well (natch), Exile, Don't Blame Me, Betty, The 1
Favourite outfit is the red and pink Grammy one. She's way too thin here but I love the colurs.

M of an extremist die hard dd swifty

Quite a swifty myself.

I love 'Lover'.

Also my dd sings 'you're in love' which blows my mind, what an incredible song. She's an extraordinary song writer. 🙌🙌🙌

Omg I need this safe space. I'm home alone while partner away, kids fell asleep early and I decided to watch the Eras tour movie and... started crying during Cruel Summer and the shots of the audience??? I mean, I've been getting into TS only recently but there's something about seeing something that is so truly just for its audience. Unashamedly girly, emotional, pink and purple and shiny. I'm honestly so moved by it. I GET IT NOW.

JaneIves · 15/03/2024 11:24

We'll be on Disney+ later - daughter home from school trip this evening, pizzas ordered already!
It was only when I took my daughter to see Eras at the cinema that I 'got' it too, I think TS is fantastic!

upanddowns · 15/03/2024 12:27

Also looking first to watching The Eras tour later. Saw it in the cinema and can't wait to watch again! Will sing all the way through!

SummaLuvin · 21/03/2024 20:26

Anyone still after tickets!!!

I just got an email from her UK online store, all TTPD variants are back, and if you pre-order TTPD (in any format from her official UK store by midnight on Sunday) you will be entered into a prize draw where there are 5 sets of 2 tickets up for grabs at a UK date of your choosing 🤞🏻

EmmaEmerald · 22/03/2024 20:21

Great to see so many Swifties 🤗

@Stringofpearlies I always cry at the start of the show, the echoes of the lyrics and "it's been a long time coming"...

Re You Are In Love

There's something about the lines
You can hear it in the silence...You can feel it on the way home..

Really hits me.

@WrenNatsworthy I've been looking for you my dear....I see you're expecting to be discharged, much love to you xx

WrenNatsworthy · 22/03/2024 21:12

Thanks @EmmaEmerald I'm home and recovering xxx

I cry all the way through the Eras Tour film. And through the Long Pond Sessions. I have even cried to Shake It Off and Paper Rings, ffs 🤣

I think there must be some tone or timbre in her voice that pings something in my brain and sets me off. It's very weird!

EmmaEmerald · 22/03/2024 23:45

@WrenNatsworthy Oh I'm glad to hear that 🥰

@TheSandHurtsMyFeelings And I never don't cry....at the staaaart...😂

oneinamillieon · 23/03/2024 13:24

hi!

whattodo87 · 03/04/2024 08:55

Hello 👋
I'm very late to the Taylor party, but have tickets for Wembley and I'm taking my DD(11) as a surprise 😬
I've never been to Wembley so any advice would be welcomed 🙏

SummaLuvin · 03/04/2024 09:15

you know your daughter best, if she loves surprises then that might be lovely for her. But I would tend towards telling her. The build up and excitement is part of the fun. As is planning an outfit, making friendship bracelets, singing in the car knowing that in a few months it will be in concert... And if she is a really big fan you don't want her spending a couple of months feeling down about missing out on something she won't be missing out on. Also in practical terms, I'm an adult going with other adults, and we have started making plans for the day - rest, food, timing for water intake, the works - in order to be able to make the most of the show since it is so long and we are likely to be on our feet for 4+ hours.

whattodo87 · 03/04/2024 11:08

Well I'm struggling not to tell her as I'm very excited !
I will casually tell her one evening ... "oh by the way .... 😆"

EmmaEmerald · 11/04/2024 23:21

@WrenNatsworthy in case you're reading, I looked out for you, hope the arm pain subsides, much love xx

Awww, hello! I'm much better @EmmaEmerald and I made it to a local Swiftie event on Sunday afternoon. I mainly sat on a comfy sofa but sang my head off and was dancing on the inside!

EmmaEmerald · 12/04/2024 01:45

@WrenNatsworthy yay! Pleased you could do that.

I don't seem to have any Swiftie events near me, shame.

Owlsandeagles · 19/04/2024 08:01

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a Taylor Swift album similar to 1989 please?
My daughter is 9 and it’s her favourite album! I’d love to get her more but not sure which one!

thanks! 😀

SummaLuvin · 19/04/2024 09:26

Anything from Repuation onward she swears, so make sure you get the clean versions if that’s a concern of yours. But I would say Lover or Speak Now. But all her albums are quite different, there isn’t really a perfect answer.

WrenNatsworthy · 19/04/2024 13:47

@EmmaEmerald and everyone.
It's TTPD day!
I am just having a break, have nearly finished my first listen of the first album.

OP posts:
SummaLuvin · 19/04/2024 14:06

There’s a whole thread about the album!!! I like it better than Midnights, but I’m not in love so far. Not done part 2 yet, so that might change my mind, but I’m finding Jacks production here is making many tracks sound samey and therefore boring and giving an overall bloated feeling to the project. I definitely need more time to absorb it all, 31 tracks in one sitting isn’t something I have the attention span for.

WrenNatsworthy · 19/04/2024 14:10

Finished part 1. I've written notes for initial reaction to each track. 🤣

Not looking at t'other thread until I've listened to album 2!

OP posts:
EmmaEmerald · 21/04/2024 19:25

Ah, my safe place with no crazy talk! The other threads are pretty nuts and not talking about the music and lyrics so much as digging through their perceptions of her personal life.

@WrenNatsworthy I haven't written notes, I'm impressed! Busy few days so only two listens.

More Aaron D than Jack A and the Jack A stuff is definitely more my thing.

Some if it is so heartbreaking, it's not going to be "listen while commuting". I think it's an astonishing achievement to get those feelings on paper. She can create joy or heartbreak and then the musical patterns she creates really resonate with me. There's a few times when I expect a totally different word to the one that comes!

I actually love Fortnight the most, it has an almost lullaby like quality.

Delighted to see Josh and Ethan in the video and think TS and PM are a beautiful team in that screen story.

I wonder if it will be the only single, given the crazy busy schedule she has - back on stage soon.

Excellent work on Clara Bow in terms of telling the story of stardom.

SummaLuvin · 21/04/2024 19:37

By now I would have normally narrowed down my initial top 5 (which does usually change once I really know the album). But I've still only done the album completely through twice!!! I think when I next listen I will start with the Black Dog to spend more time with the later tracks. Similar to Emma I am preferring Dessner tracks to Antonoff, many of which sound uninspired, repetitive, and dull especially in such a long track listing to me.

But Daddy I Love Him, Florida!!!, Who's Afraid of Little Old Me, loml, I Can Do It With A Broken Heart, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived, and The Prophecy are ones I'm vibing with right now. But I need much more time. I actually am not into Fortnight at all, it's a skip for me.
