I'm a Depeche Mode fan and they do this all the time. Some fans are huge collectors and like to have it all on the shelf. I'm not like that.

I think all the album artwork will fit together like the Midnights ones did. Some people find that kind of thing pleasing. I don't mind, it's part and parcel of the industry.

I actually just bought the new limited edition cd of TTPD today on a whim. I miss the days of physical media.
I don't mind having to wait for an extra song on Spotify, I'm a 51 year old Swiftie and I don't think I know the words to every single song, or have even heard them all yet.

You know this got me thinking, what is the last cd I bought and it was possibly a destiny's child album! I just asked my 3 youngest what is a cd and what would you do with it and they have absolutely no idea! Have spent the morning doing friendship bracelets with the youngest whilst watching the live. Got to get ready for the big taylor night out tonight too!

I think if I had no kids to spend my money on, I'd probably be one of those that likes to have them all. Also as soon as they are released I go on tiktok as people post them as soon as they get them.

I don't necessarily mind this, I think with Folklore she did about 10 covers, but she released them all at once so you could choose your fave having seen them all. Or buy them all if you like collecting.

With 1989 TV she would release one for 48 hours, then another one for 48 hours... and so on. So you sort of had to commit without being aware of what was coming and if you preferred it. I think thats a little unfair. I also think multiple visuals is different from different tracks. She has pretty album covers but I buy her music because I like to listen to it, so not having all of the songs is annoying to me where as a less pretty cover is a shame but no biggie.

TheTorturedPoetsDepartment · 16/02/2024 14:01

Did you all hear her talking about TTPD before she played your losing me? This is honestly going to be the best/ saddest breakup album of all time. I'm quite happily married, no reason to think my dh is going to up and leave anytime soon, but I'm that dramatic I will play it in a dark room acting like my own heart is broken!

SummaLuvin · 16/02/2024 14:08

I'm trying to avoid happenings from the tour as much as possible so as to go in blind! Of course I know bit about the structure of the tour and a handful of songs on the setlist, but not keeping up with everything like some fans are.

TheTorturedPoetsDepartment · 16/02/2024 14:27

@SummaLuvin oh you are going to be in for such a treat!!

I would have been the same, but because I can't be sure I'll still be here in August I've indulged myself! Really enjoyed seeing it at the cinema, was a total treat.

I've got my funeral playlist on spotify, and I'm still not sure which TS song to put on there. I want one that says Thank You. Maybe Long Live.

Editing to say - suggestions welcome!

Long Live is a stunning choice. Beautiful Ghosts could actually be an option, I think it's a really sonically pretty song, feels fitting, but not too lyrically on the nose that will have people full-on sobbing - unless you want that? In which case Bigger Than The Whole Sky, It's Time To Go, or Come Back...Be Here. Mary's Song could be another left field option. If you want chaotic ME!

TheTorturedPoetsDepartment · 16/02/2024 18:25

@WrenNatsworthy I was going to suggest bigger than the whole sky. Long live is beautiful and may be slightly more 'uplifting' is that the right word? Also, depending on your sense of humour, shock them all with no body no crime 😬

toastofthetown · 16/02/2024 18:48

Long Live is an amazing choice. All the good ones have been suggested, but Wildest Dreams or Majorie could also work for funeral. But nothing tops Long Live ❤️

EmmaEmerald · 16/02/2024 19:24

Just catching up with how Eras went in Melbourne today...Or yesterday!
I'm okay with the merch and different album editions as I tend to think it's catering for collectors... in the same way I can't buy a lot of stuff, if that makes sense.

I am a streaming person but I do buy TS CDs (and the 1975 as well) as some things are too important to not have hard copies.

I see TTPD selling out already but I am not sure what a heartbreak album is going to be like and don't feel the need to pre-order. As a fan from the start, I still feel like the volume of content is just huge and I wish I had more time to sot and listen.

I suspect TTPD will be styled kind of like Folklore and Evermore. I think they're great and clearly they brought in a lot of new fans but they aren't my favourites.

Given her song choices to introduce it, I think it's looking that way?

@WrenNatsworthy I know this is left field for an uplifting choice but Starlight? Dreaming impossible dreams seems like a good note?

There's New Year's Day as well - not uplifting but "hold on to the memories, they will hold on to you". I listened to that a lot after dad, and I think she first did it live on Jimmy Fallon's show when his mum passed away.

But I think Long Live is the best choice tbh.

I'm 73. I've been a Swifty since I heard the song Tim McGraw. It took me back to my teen years and the young man who was my soulmate who went to Vietnam and didn't come home.

Oh that's so sad @OhcantthInkofaname.
I love that song so very much. I think that it makes us all wistful for someone special from the past. It reminds me of slow dancing at the church disco with someone who broke my heart later on.

As much as I said I’m not really following the tour in order to keep it a surprise I have gotten entirely addicted to the cute TikTok outfit transitions to TS songs from people going to the tour and it’s making me so excited! Now to convince my girls that we need to do about 4 of them 🫢

….oh my god your eras tour outfit looks so fucking good…

WrenNatsworthy · 18/02/2024 14:28

I haven't got TikTok , can you link to one? I won't be arsed with an outfit change but I love seeing the effort people put in.

Yes, I have loads of videos saved to do with my dd in June. Also keep telling my dh he has to do them for Wembley too. He's not as keen as she is. I think we will dress Lover for June and Rep for August.

WrenNatsworthy · 19/02/2024 17:25

Thanks @SummaLuvin !

August will be probably be very hot so I'm thinking skimpy, but I bloody love Reputation and all that sexy/ angry stuff. I'm not sure I'll want to wear black. I'll enjoy planning a few options.

@WrenNatsworthy You could wear something weather appropriate...but still be bejewelled. 💎

I can't think of anyone else who uses the word in a song, never mind craft it the way TS does 🤗

Agree, and that one is such an earworm!

This amazing person on insta designs all her own TS inspired clothes, it's beyond impressive:

@WrenNatsworthy It is a proper earworm! 🤗💎

I saw that costume lady on Twitter as well. Great skill. I went to an exhibition of Kylie costumes once, I'm sure Taylor will have an exhibition too.

For a summer concert, an "Out of the Woods" type dress would work?

I particularly enjoyed hearing about that creative journey - the dress being dipped in wax to look frozen.

Anti Hero is a very easy look to do, or just wear the Cardigan.

Speaking of AntiHero, I do have an instrumental version of that on Spotify. In general, I'd love instrumentals for some of the songs. I can't do chores and listen to the actual songs because I get distracted from the chores and too into the songs 😂

I am guessing a trip to Wembley might be worth it for the merch truck? I don't own any merch except the cup and tin from the film screening. I don't know what's available tbh.

TheTorturedPoetsDepartment · 14/02/2024 17:17

So anyone got tickets? I was very lucky and am taking my youngest (6) to dublin n3 and then me and dh heading to Wembley n3 or 4 I think. I CAN NOT WAIT!!

I have tickets for Liverpool! Going with a friend and I can't wait 🩷

JaneIves · 20/02/2024 15:36

Anyone already outfit planning?

I'll literally be almost 50 by the time August rolls around.
I'm short and slim but I don't want to wear anything too skimpy!

I have held onto a fabulous black sequin skirt from many moons ago, which I was thinking of pairing with the 'a lot going on right now' tee.

Or I've seen this, which could be worn again. I'd likely just wear trainers with either (trust Stan smiths or converse)

So I'm going to the Cardiff show & im in L31! Row 15 I think. Does anyone think my view will be restricted with the poles?
