DD (10) started learning piano a few months ago and plays around with it a lot in her spare time. (It's her second instrument so she's progressing quite fast as she's Grade 5 on an orchestral instrument so could read music etc).
I'm thinking of getting her a MIDI recorder for Xmas so she can experiment more with writing her own stuff (I'm interested in the built-in notation feature with the software). We have a Mac which has Garageband...and I know a few MIDI keyboards come with Ableton. I have no idea what this is like but know it's included in some packages. I think the school she's likely to go to for secondary use Sibelius...and there's a free version to get started. I know NOTHING about using any of these though!!
It's something of a minefield of options and I'm well outside my comfort zone on this.
I looked at the Akai products but I'm veering towards the NOVATION LAUNCHKEY MK3 25-KEY KEYBOARD CONTROLLER. (Full size rather than mini keys)
Anyone any experience of this?
Am I missing anything important??
