Advice on music notation and computer piano keyboards

Disclaimer...I do not know anything about this topic!

My DD (age 10) plays and orchestral instrument and recently learning piano - which she's really enjoying and doing pretty well at accordion to her teacher and what I hear.
She's quite interested in making up her own little tunes - she does this quite regularly and plays them to me. I suggested that she tries to write them down, but she doubts her ability to do this accurately. So...I was wondering if there were any music notation Apps/software that might help her with this? I was thinking it might be an interesting idea for Christmas...or maybe a keyboard that connects to the computer (it's a Mac)?

I don't really know anything about this but wonder if anyone here has any ideas...??

Thanks so much!

You need a MIDI keyboard.

As you have a Mac, you can then use Garageband to record the music and notation - I'm not an expert, but there's YouTube videos etc. showing you how.
