I’m looking to buy DS2 his own guitar. He is 7 and has been borrowing it from school last 2 terms. We are being asked to return it now :( So I’m in the market for a 3/4size guitar.

i have no clue about guitars and brands!! DS1 plays violin and kind people here educated me a bit and recommended Gliga Gama. We bought it. Absolutely brilliant piece of kit!!

What guitar brands are similar to Stentors and Gliga of violin?

Why not go to a decent music shop and say you want a 3/4 size guitar for a 7 year old who’s been learning for 6 months and tell them your budget and then try out the guitars in your price range and size and pick the one you like the sound of best?

What exactly is the point of your post? If you have nothing meaningful to contribute, please 🤐

@User112
The Martin Johnny Cash dreadnought is a great guitar, maybe a bit big though

My DS had a 3/4 Stretton Payne until he needed to move up to full size, and both he and his teacher thought it was good. Worth getting a padded bag rather than a flimsy fabric one.

Hi OP

My son is almost 7 and is also using a 3/4 guitar - i was told by his teacher to get a classical guitar. It's really easy to pick them up online and at their age and standard I don't think quality is a huge deal. I got his first guitar online, I paid about 90 for it. (Unfortunately I broke it when I rested it badly against a wall!!)
I've just replaced it with a Yamaha 3/4 classical, not arrived yet but it was about £110.

Our teacher was really helpful giving me a steer over email but basically once you know what you're after (size and type) there's so many available to buy online. I wouldn't invest much in a first guitar.

Good luck! I've been having sneaky go's on it when he goes to bed Wink

Oh yes - definitely worth spending a bit on a padded case! Some of them are mega flimsy
