Just been listening to 'Bring Him Home' from Les Miserables. I think it's got to be my most favourite song from all the musicals. Brings a tear to my eye every time!! Such amazing lyrics.

What's yours?

One day more - Les mis
Satisfied - Hamilton
I'll cover you - rent
Being alive - company

SummaLuvin · 14/03/2022 21:23

Hamilton mentioned a few times, but I’m surprised no-one has said One Last Time, or The World Was Wide Enough.

Justrealised · 14/03/2022 21:25

Forever Autumn- War of the Worlds
Defying gravity- wicked
All I ask of you- phantom of the opera

MinglingFlamingo · 14/03/2022 21:30

@RedRec

Take That Look Off Your Face from Tell Me On a Sunday.
Yes! That's an excellent one.
holyshitballs · 14/03/2022 21:46

Can’t choose one!

“One day more” and “do you hear the people sing” from Les Mis
Opening sequence from Chorus Line
Anything goes - it’s an outstanding routine
America from west side story
“When I grow up” - like other, is absolutely chokes me
And I was blown away by “Satisfied” from Hamilton - Renee Elise Goldsberry has an extraordinary voice

HermioneWeasley · 14/03/2022 21:48

Oh, I’d forgotten Guys and Dolls - so many good songs!

Shangrilalala · 14/03/2022 21:54

Nothing - A Chorus Line

Not While I’m Around - Sweeney Todd

I Can Hear The Bells - Hairspray

And anything from Les Mis!

parabalabalabala · 14/03/2022 21:54

@PinkGinBigGrin

"When I grow up" from Matilda.

I was in absolute bits when the children sang it in the west end production we went to. So we're lots of the other mums!

My kids sang this at primary school whenever we went to watch an assembly etc. just thinking about it brings me to tears!

Defying Gravity - Wicked
Don't Cry for Me Argentina - the original concept album version from Evita.
Oh What a Circus - Evita.
I Know Him so Well - Chess
Any Dream Will Do - Joseph.

Out of all of those I've only actually seen Joseph, and that was over 30yrs ago. I'm not that bothered about watching the performances, but love singing along riff music in my kitchen!

Sickoffamilydrama · 14/03/2022 22:08

@ThingammyBob

The Black Hills of Dakota from Calamity Jane.
How about once I had a secret love from Calamity Jane. It used to be our teen and early twenties hangover film we watched In the late 90s which is weird when we were also seriously into clubbing!
LBOCS2 · 14/03/2022 22:15

Burn from Hamilton (but I'd happily listen to the whole soundtrack, on repeat...)

Get Down from Six

Most of the songs from Les Mis, except maybe Stars

Somewhere over the rainbow from the Wizard of Oz

The finale from act one of Iolanthe (if we're doing operettas as well!)

Unruly Heart from The Prom

Oh, and the opening song from the Beetlejuice musical.

BacardiOnATuesday · 14/03/2022 22:24

Master of the House - Les Mis
Sweet Transvestite - Rocky Horror

itrytomakemyway · 14/03/2022 22:33

Come What May - Moulin Rouge
Slipping Through My Fingers - Mamma Mia
On My Own - Les Mis
Tonight - West Side Story
All of Greatest Showman, but The Other Side is brilliant to watch
The Room Where it Happened - Hamilton
You Can't Stop The Beat - Hairspray
All That Jazz - Chicago
Tonight - West Side Story
Moon River - Breakfast at Tiffany's (I know it's not a musical!)

MummytoCSJH · 14/03/2022 22:36

Take Me or Leave Me from RENT and Satisfied from Hamilton. Though I love most songs from most musicals Grin

katienana · 14/03/2022 22:40

Tell me its not true - blood brothers
Edelweiss- sound of music (sang it to my babies as a lullaby)
We're a couple of swells - Easter Parade
Young lovers - the King and I

ronconcoke · 14/03/2022 22:50

Love this thread! Love musicals too, but haven't really seen the "new" ones so am basing these on my childhood...

Skimbleshanks and Memory from Cats

Empty Chairs and On my Own from Les Mis

Phantom of the Opera and Music of the Night

Buenos Aires from Evita

Food Glorious Food and Reviewing the Situation from Oliver

Close Every Door from Joseph

I'm sure I'll think of more....

Bring Him Home - Les Mis

Bluebellbike · 14/03/2022 23:08

I don't know if it counts as from a Musical (Glee)? But I love Don't Stop Believin'. My son played in his school prchestra and they played this a lot and it was magical.
