anyone learned guitar with an app?

I got a guitar a year ago with the aim of teaching myself and I didn't do too bad with youtube videos but I feel I need more structure.

I keep seeing ads for apps such as Fender.

Are they any good?

going by the lack of enthusiastic replies, I think this may be a dead end

I always found the best way for me was to get a instructor, as it forces you to really practice and notice your own deficiencies. Even on a casual basis, this can really help. I've heard mixed things about Fender play, and other things like that but I guess it's worth a try.
