Anyone recommend any good books about music? Any genre - history, theory, biographies etc. What have you really enjoyed?

I'm reading "Here Me Talkin To Ya" By Nat Shapiro at the moment which is pretty good. www.goodreads.com/book/show/309348.Hear_Me_Talkin_To_Ya

Big Bangs by Howard Goodall. Fascinating look at five musical discoveries through history.

Thank you for the suggestions - will add them to my winter book list. I liked the Howard Goodall Big Bangs TV series.

Enjoying "Bird Lives" by Ross Russell at the moment.

So many good biographies! 'Bedsit Disco Queen' by Tracey Thorn, 'Clothes, Music, Boys' by Viv Albertine, 'Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl' by Carrie Brownstein, 'Touching From a Distance' by Deborah Curtis, 'Just Kids' by Patti Smith.
I also enjoyed 'This is Your Brain on Music' by Daniel Levitin, it's about our obsession with music from a neuroscience perspective, really interesting.

If you're into it, 'Funk: the music, the people and the rhythm of the one'is great.
