How does music streaming subscription work and which one would you recommend?

My soon to be 7 year old has asked for an Alexa for his birthday. I picked up an Echo Dot today but we don’t have any music streaming. My brother has always sorted all the music for our parties through his sonos speaker and I think Spotify? I only have a few favourite albums downloaded and loads of cds (think I still even have a few cassette tapes 🙈 - really showing my age now) I know I need to drag myself into 2019 and sort it out but I really don’t have a clue. It’s mainly for my son so what would you recommend? Thank you 😊

I like Spotify but if you have Amazon Prime I think it comes with Amazon Music. Try asking Alexa to play some music and see what happens.

I haven’t got Amazon Prime but if the music is included I could get it and have all the other benefits too.

You could. Here's a bit of info

I love Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime Video is almost as good as Netflix and we save way more in shipping than the membership costs us. It's a very good value, particularly if you shop on line.

I just ordered a new paring knife and a pitcher to make iced tea in from Amazon. I love not having to go out to the shops for things like that.

I just had another look. There's a paid service called Music Unlimited. This looks to be the one included with Prime.

Following with interest OP. We have stacks of CDs and love being able to stick them on in the car but can't help feeling that we need to upgrade our 'system' so that we can have all our music at home and in the car/ on the go. Feel so old not knowing how it's done Sad

We have a family subscription to Spotify - 4 of us using. I have Prime and you can have some music, though I haven't really used it much. Music Unlimited is a separate thing from Prime. I am keeping Prime until we've seen all of Good Omens. Grin

But we are happy with Spotify.

We bluetooth Spotify in the car. Smile
