Ok, this might sound a bit of a stretch, but I'm about to start taking lessons to learn the bass guitar. I've no existing guitar experience but have always been drawn to bass lines and maybe one day be able to graduate into the double bass...
I have lessons lined up for January and plenty of time and motivation to practice. My partner is in a band and they desperately need a bassist and I've played a long a few times but have an incentive to get good quickly. Whether they'll let me play with them in public is another matter but they do let me jam with them.
Anyway, we are getting married in September and I want to surprise my husband to be by playing a track with the rest of the band. They'll all be in on it but he won't have a clue.
Here's where I need some advice:-
- Looking for a song with a strong bass intro (my moment in the spotlight :)
- Bass line not so hard that I can't learn it in nine months
- Be upbeat and recognisable (sing along or dance along is an advantage)
- Love theme would be a bonus
So your ideas please!
So far, my lead contender is Love Cats by The Cure but keen to get some other suggestions too.
