I don’t know nothing about music and would appreciate some advice. My son wants to learn to play guitar so I contacted his school. They added his name to the waiting list and told me that he may start learning after half term.
He is 8 and has already started to learn to read music online . I want to buy a guitar for him but there is so many brands and sizes I am not sure which one to choose. TIA

Do you want to buy one now?

I would ask the teacher. I always ask the teacher when it comes to musical instruments. Wink

Thanks for the reply. He is too keen and wants to make sure he is ready to play .He is not interested in any sport and spends time learning recorder on YouTube.

If he is small for his age I would definitely consider getting a 3/4 or even 1/2 size guitar. Yamaha, Valencia and Alhambra do giod student guitars. I'm a guitar teacher, feel free to ask me anything else you're not sure about :)
