I need a new obsession - please help

Post bereavement I'm having sequential music obsessions. I need to move out of the current one but struggling to find stuff. I tend to like stuff with a lot going on in the lyrics. In order so far they've been:
Turin Brakes
Solange Knowles
Beastie Boys - I need to get out of this now.

Help me!!

Saul Williams?

I can't think of anyone with more to say within their lyrics than Saul.

Do you know Ryan Adams 'Gold' or 'Heartbreaker'?

SueGeneris · 16/05/2018 23:08

The Roots?

I also rate Saul Williams.

"I tend to like stuff with a lot going on in the lyrics."

Nick Cave
Leonard Cohen
Roger Waters (solo or Pink Floyd)

My current obsession is Brandi Carlile. The Joke is a fab song- was on Obama's list of fave songs of 2017. Most of her songs are really meaningful and her voice is amazing.

Elbow have interesting lyrics, and beautiful melodies/ arrangements. And an enormous back catalogue. But not massively similar to your other choices!

Tom Waits is a lyrical genius but not to everone's taste.

Beardyman is kind of addictive and lyrically good + also oftne very funny. 'Distractions' is his most accesible.

How about

Put Radio six music on and see what tickets your fancy on there?

Ragusa · 16/05/2018 23:15

Dunno where the rogue how about came from ...

Am having a Parliament/Funkadelic/De La Soul/Bootsy Collins/Lauryn Hill/ Arrested Development weekend, don't know if there's something there for you?

Flowers sorry for your loss.

MrsPotatoHeadIsMyIdol · 20/05/2018 18:32

Ben Howard and Bon Ivor

Interesting, I am doing a bit of Lauryn Hill and Tribe called quest this weekend. Saul Williams may be too strong for me but I'm going to keep trying.
