I have the urge to buy a clarinet, did grade 5 21 years ago as a teen. I do not have a lot of money. Could maybe get a loan, would rather not. Is there any point getting a

Honestly? Get yourself on Gumtree and find a bargain for the time being. It might not be perfect but will get you started whilst you save up for the clarinet of your dreams.

You can get a new mouthpiece if you’re that bothered but they do wash. 2 reed to start with maybe?

A new mouthpiece is a really good suggestion, thanks - would improve either a cheap new clarinet or second-hand one.
