Guitar Straps

Would like to buy a guitar strap for Christmas for my DP but I am absolutely clueless. He has 2 guitars one acoustic and another electric Fender. Are they specific to different guitars or does one size fit all? Also any advice on nice ones would be appreciated - thinking maybe a leather one. Thanks
