Is the tenor saxophone a good starter instrument? I was sort of doing Ok until I tried lower notes but they are a challenge. Sometimes they work but often they come out too high. Please give me some tips in the hope that one day I wont murder every tune I play!!

Some people work hard to get high note harmonics! In fact, there are whole books and DVDs devoted to it!

Seeing as this is a year late, are you still out there struggling away, and what progress have you made?

Quality and condition of sax makes a lot of difference, also mouthpiece and reeds can be a lifetime's study!

Our DS has played alto for twenty years, does jam sessions and occasional paid gigs.
