piano teachers?

Trying to find a piano teacher for my beginner 8 yr old (in Bristol).

any tips on what to look for in a teacher? reliable places to find one? although we have a piano I don't play so feel it's hard to know what I'm looking for.

Friends' recommendations are booked up!

You might want to try posting in the Education: Extra-curricular activies topic. There are some music teachers who post there.

TBH - round here (North Wilts), piano teachers with spaces are in such short supply, you'd be lucky to have a choice.

Ask at your local music shop -ours has a notice board where teachers can advertise.

Also, get recommendations from parents whose kids already learn piano - especially parents with older kids who have used the same teacher for years.

Also, ask for a taster session before you committ to anything - the teacher should do this for free, and you could try out two or three teachers before you make a decision. (though places get snapped up quickly, so don't delay!)
