Also qualifies as an album i bought based on the one song, and wasn't that keen on the rest.

Suede are fab, surely.

But not that obscure I wouldn't have thought?

Or maybe I'm just old...

May I nominate a couple:

Cattle and Cane by The Go-Betweens

Stolen Property by The Triffids

Doppelgänger by The Luddites

...all Peel show listens from the 80s. Sigh....

ItsTimeToBurnThisDiscoDown · 29/11/2011 14:51

Tranquillizer by Geneva

They were an indie band in the late 90's, did 2 albums and were never particularly popular. Loved them though! Smile

am reviving this thread so I can mention a couple

Things Fall Apart by Cristina. Anne Nightingale used to play it back in '83 or so all the time!

The The - Uncertain Smile. 'Tis brillig.

Empty Bottles - Ben Watt (the other half of EBTG). His 'North Marine Drive' album is up there in the stratospher IMO.

De-Luxe by Lush. Still one of my fave bands ever.

Anyone else?

donnie · 12/05/2012 16:12

Sinister I feel the way you do about 'Pantomime Horse' by Suede xxxx

IAmSherlocked · 12/05/2012 16:16

The Only Living Boy in New Cross - Carter USM.

StarMeKitten · 13/05/2012 15:28

Dry the rain by Beta Band

Llanbobl · 15/05/2012 20:26

Carter USM are fab, but to (mis) quote RetiredGoth2 , surely not that obscure Smile

Can I throw Alternative TV "Another Coke" into the mix or Pere Ubu "Non Alignment Pact"

mewkins · 17/05/2012 23:02

For Nancy- Pete Yorn
Short skirt/long acket - Cake
I'm so sick of goodbyes- sparklehorse

IAmSherlocked · 18/05/2012 17:08

Llanbobl - you'd think, but when a colleague at work asked for everyone's favourite songs for some kind of work do quiz, that very song was rejected by him when I volunteered it as 'no-one would have heard of it'.

So I think that qualifies it absolutely for this thread
