Friend lent me a cd with this track on it, but it isn't listed and she doesn't know.

It's sounds like an Alexander O'neil maybe - pretty smooth but steadily tuneful. Lyrics include " he flies like a bird in the sky - so much braver than I..." or some such. Voice rises and falls pretty much throughout the song - quite an upbeat tempo.

not much to go on.....any hope?

Sonique - sky? ( yes I know she's female but sounds slightly masculine )
I'm not sure as need a bit more info - can you remember anymore of the words?

Rohanda · 02/05/2011 07:45

Thanks carmina - no, it's def. male and a bit on the smoothie-side as I say. Will rack my teenie brain for more words....

Have you tried Google with the lyrics you can decipher?

Rohanda · 02/05/2011 12:16

no I haven't Berry, but the lyrics I know are so modest in amount that I would prob. have every tune ever written!!

Rohanda what era was it - y'kow - 60's motown, 70's soul, 80's?

if you can give me that info I can maybe get somewhere

Rohanda · 03/05/2011 18:48

it sounds a lot like it was produced by the guy who worked with Michael Jackson to give a more smooth/finished sound to his records. V. probably 80's or 90's. It was on a compilation disc, of other jazz/funk records. iirc the bird referred to in the lyrics was a sparrow flying high.

Quincey Jones was the producer I was referring to.

If you think of anymore lyrics post them here ok -
I'm a big Quincy Jones fan and know all the people he produced so I'll start there, (I've got loads of funk/soul compilations )

As I say - leave it with me.

carminaburana · 05/05/2011 17:45

Rohanda - I'll have to admit defeat on this one I'm afraid - I've gone through all my Quincy Jones ( and similar ) but to no avail - although I've had great fun listening to all that old stuff again ( omg do you remember the Brothers Johnson? ha ha )

I'm not sure if you're into any other type of music - but if you are, check out Ellie Goulding's new song 'lights' - it's awesome.

Rohanda · 05/05/2011 19:53

oh I'm sorry, but glad you had a nostalgia-trip! I am not giving up on this one - it's gotten under my skin and I WILL get to the bottom and I WILL tell you about it.

Will check out Ellie later and thanks for that.

I like all music and play and sing it all. 'cept rap. And C&W. And Simply Boring Red
