i pod question

Did not know where else to put this so here goes.

DS wants an ipod touch and has nearly saved enough money, we both have mp3 players and normally I put music into the windows media player and sync it onto the mp3 player from there.....easy peasy.

Can I use the same method with an ipod touch?

I keep hearing itunes itunes itunes, do I have to download itunes to be able to put music on the ipod touch?

You need to download iTunes to your pc. You can then upload cds/move mp3s into it. An also buy music if you want to.

Download iTunes. It is easy peasy to use.

Is that the only way to do it, can't do it through the media player?

There is a synch tab in media player so hopefully its possible to do it that way. Didn't want to try it as I don't want a duplicate (large) library. I know that if you use real player there is a drop down to import to a connected ipod.
