here, BBC site

Basically music fans meet up to listen to albums, on vinyl, all the way through with no talking, texting, going to the loo or skipping tracks.

I'm sort of on the fence on this one - I can see their point about certain classic albums being entire works of art that should be enjoyed as such, but we all know of loads of albums where you only listen to the hits and the other tracks are clearly fillers.

Also, I think the 'shuffle' option can make you re-appreciate album tracks and hear them anew, rather than as 'the one that's after the big single'.

And surely, picking and choosing tracks from albums has existed as a concept since the first mix tape was made - digital music has just made it easier.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't be keen on joining a group and I love new and old music.

I discover music mainly through the internet.
When I was young it was mainly through papers such as the now defunct 'Sounds' and NME. (Paul Morley I still love you!!)

I use Lastfm for new (to me)bands. So I will type in say NIN or Jane's addcition and get music from bands in that style.

I also listen to planet rock and they play mainly classic stuff which often makes me go and dig an old album out or re discover an old favourite. The other month I had a bit of a Doors renaissance playing all their albums for a while!

Youtube is great for hearing bands and suggesting others that you may not thought of.

I agree with the shuffle setting. Funny enough the article mentions Kate Bush. I recently transfered The Kick Inside to my pod and have recently been using the shuffle a lot. I have been hearing tracks that wouldn't normally have chosen to listen to and have had some nice surprises.

So my view after that waffle is: it's a good idea if you are into that sort of thing but personally I like to do my own thing!!!

Bumping for the evening crowd. Unless you are all out listening to Dark Side of the Moon without interruptions.
