I don't really like anything at the moment. I will have a look at the chart and see if I can find anything.

purepurple · 15/01/2011 09:13

I have had a look here at the top 40 and I only like 2 songs

Mine have already been mentioned!
Love adele's rolling in the deep and Bruno mars' grenade.
DD (21months) is obsessed with rihanna's music so have become a bit partial to that too (if only to see DD trying to copy the moves in the videos!)

slartybartfast · 15/01/2011 10:21

:)

Jellykat · 15/01/2011 13:56

Speaking as one who used to attempt to copy the moves of Pans people and Legs & co,as a child.. I heartily applaud your DDs aspirations Mumby Grin

carminaburana · 15/01/2011 14:08

It's actually cee lo green ( not cy lo..Wink )

& yes he's brilliant - still love Gnarls Barkley's "crazy" - Cee lo's voice is so beautifully retro

mamalovesmojitos · 15/01/2011 14:14
oh my god, her voice is divine another rihanna vote here. I used to think she was awful but she's released a few great songs recently.
carminaburana · 15/01/2011 14:18

Oh Rumer is fantastic - a breath of fresh air ( & sounding like Karen Carpenter is no bad thing )

upahill · 15/01/2011 15:56

The only current song going round my head atm is Jessie J's

UnquietDad · 15/01/2011 15:58

The new radio mix is very good.

UnquietDad · 15/01/2011 15:59

mamaloves - yes, I used to be in two minds about Rihanna. Wondered if she was more looks than talent. "What's My Name" is really insidious though, in a good way, and it's got a sort of lulling calypso rhythm married to a dance beat which is very hard to do. And a very dirty reference to "going downtown", ooer!

TanteRose · 15/01/2011 16:00

Nelly's Dream one

mamalovesmojitos · 15/01/2011 17:05

Haha UQDad - great description!

UnquietDad · 15/01/2011 20:42

Chart-nerds may be interested to know that Rihanna has just become the first female solo artist to have no.1 hits in five consecutive years. Yes, really. And no, Madonna never managed it - she had a dry spell in '88.

Elvis holds the all-time record, with 7 consecutive years.

ceebeegeebies · 15/01/2011 21:05

I totally agree about Rihanna - there is definitely something about her music which hooks you in. I thought she had maybe struck lucky with Umbrella but she has continued to bring out songs that get into your head and stay there!! I remember hearing 'the only girl in the world' the first time and thinking it was nothing special but now I absolutely love it!!

belgo · 16/01/2011 07:22

I'm not so convinced by Rihanna's music. I really like her voice, it's strong and has a good tone without being too pretty. I do find her just a bit too expressionless. I'm not so keen on her music, Umbrella was good, but not Rude Boy etc.
