Looking for a good song about family or love

I could really do with some help. We're having one of those photo packages done of the family where the pictures are compiled on a DVD with an accompanying track. I have to choose the song by Friday and I'm stuck. Any thoughts?

They used I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack over a photomontage at Dds last day at pre school and even some of the dads were visibly gulping!

formerdiva · 14/09/2010 14:46

Crikey - got a lump in my thoat just thinking about that one.

BTW - are you really a scootergrrrl?

Love is All Around.

Love it.

Scootergrrrl · 14/09/2010 14:57

It could be said that I am now something of a scooter widow at weekends! Talking of scooters and such things, what about Long After Tonight Is All Over?

formerdiva · 14/09/2010 20:44

Me too! DH's real love is his Lambretta that he got in 1976.

Will your DH be going on the coast to coast next month? And BTW, LOVE Long after Tonight is All Over (esp Dusty's version)

BikeRunSki No way I could do that one. Reminds me of my final date with an ex - it was playing on loop on the jukebox, and I ended up slightly over indulging & throwing up on him Blush

Bet he can't bear listening to it either after that date Grin

What about

Depends on your taste, it'd floor me though.

Scootergrrrl · 14/09/2010 20:55

Dh is allowed one rally a month - this month is Bridlington and I think its Mablethorpe in November. Oh, the glamour....

And he wonders why I don't want to go along with the three children!

wukter · 14/09/2010 21:01

That's nice, Scootergirl, dear.

Grin
wukter · 14/09/2010 21:14

Gah!

Here's me laughing (nicely) at you Scootergirl, thinking you posted on the wrong thread - when it was me not following the conversation.

Sorry!

Pride before a fall, and all that.

Scootergrrrl · 14/09/2010 21:18

Keep up chuck! As punishment, go to a crappy scooter rally in a knackered northern seaside town ; )

formerdiva · 14/09/2010 21:26

Wukter - never heard it before. I've got it on YouTube now, and it could be a serious contender! Thanks for that.

Scootergrrrl - does make me PMSL the whole scooter scene. They just LOVE it when one of their old heaps breaks down so they can all show off and repair the hydraulic shaft

One rally a month sounds like a fair system. DH seems to spend every Saturday either at a rally or at a Hull City match. Must be a masochist, poor love...

OP posts:
Scootergrrrl · 14/09/2010 22:04

Indeed. Why buy a new scooter which actually WORKS when you could buy an old heap of crap which you can spend ages messing about with? Apparently new scooters have no soul, according to DH. New scooters present less opportunity to spend all evening playing in the garage, you mean!

You must be up near us in the north if your DH is a Hull City fan. Is he going to the Bridlington rally thingy?

formerdiva · 14/09/2010 22:23

Just checked the calendar and the cheeky bugger's written it down, so it looks like he is going!

I'm a Hull girl (or not too far away from Hull anyway). Should have guessed you were a Northerner from the Northern Soul-ish music choice! Anywhere close to me?

OP posts:
Scootergrrrl · 14/09/2010 22:34

About 20 minutes from Hull - quite near Beverley. Will have to form a northern branch of the Abandoned Scooter Wives Club ; )

Loopyloops - ooh, just commented on your FB barney and noticed you'd posted on here Smile

I haven't heard half of these songs - that's a great list, thank you. I intend to open my emergency Wispa and start playing these on YouTube right now.

Scootergrrrl - I'd bet £10 that our OH's know each other

I started a thread in chat about beautiful songs - I've had so many great suggestions I'm going to make a list and post it separately so it doesn't get lost

fortyplus · 16/09/2010 22:46

Here's the one I started but I'mm going to change all the links so they show the track title and artist. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/1040812-HELP-Link-to-beautiful-song-please
