Why would the DWP ring during an appeal?

I had a missed call today from the DWP. I have an appeal running for PIP. Do you think they've changed their mind and are going to concede? They're going to call back but I have an appointment that day so can guarantee I'll be unable to pick up again.

They probably need to check something with you. They won't have changed their decision at this stage (ahead of any appeal meeting I mean), it doesn't work like that.

I got that call when I went to Tribunal. They hadn't put their side of the paperwork in and wanted to do a deal....

What appeal meeting? I don't remember an appeal meeting beforehand last time (had to appeal to get it in the first place). The appeal was lodged a good 9/10 mths ago now.

I know right. Even if I'd seen the call I probably wouldn't have picked it up because I didn't know who it was and no one expects the DWP to ring on a Sunday.

When I was called by DWP following submission of appeal papers, it was to tell me dd's PIP application was successful and it will not go to appeal. I was dd's legal appointee.

Guess DWP knew they would lose on appeal. I was already psyched up to fight.

There have been issues where the DWP have tried to bully people into accepting less than they might have got at tribunal
