If you were diagnosed privately, did you share with your GP?

Sorry if this is a stupid question... I was diagnosed with ASD in my early 30s really just because I wanted to know. I haven't really done anything with it.

Should I have given a copy to the GP? Is that a thing?

I think my daughter is also autistic and am thinking about approaching the GP to ask for a referral for her, which is what made me think of it.

Thanks for any advice

Who were you diagnosed by? Some services will write to your GP once you're diagnosed. I don't think you 'need' to as such, though.

Might be useful to mention it to your GP when you ask for a referral for your daughter, as there's a strong genetic link for autism, and then they'll have it on file anyway :)

The clinical psychologist wrote to my GP and it is now on my medical record.

I had to give consent for them to do that though.

Yes, I gave permission to the psychologist to share it with my gp.
